Faith's Checkbook (By: C.H. Spurgeon)

                                                                      Exceedingly Precious

"They shall be Mine," says the Lord of hosts, "on the day that I make them My jewels."
                                                                                 ~ Malachi 3:17

"Are you among the precious things of Jesus? You are precious to Him if He is precious to you, and you shall be His "on that day," if He is yours on this day.
In the days of Malachi, the chosen of the Lord were accustomed to so converse with each other that God Himself listened to their talk. He even took notes of it and made a book of it, which he lodged in His record office. Pleased with their conversation, He was also pleased with them. Pause and ask yourself: If Jesus were to listen to my talk, would He be pleased with it? Is it to His glory?
What an honor for us to be reckoned by the Lord to be His crown jewels! Jesus bought us, sought us, and has so far wrought us to His image that we shall be fought for by Him with all His might."

  1. Just as God listened long ago, so does Jesus.Sometimes we say things that we don't really mean in our hearts, but still hurts those around us including Jesus. When we say or do things that are unpleasing to God the Father, and God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, we offend them. When we realize what we di or said, we need to repent of that right away to God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the person that we offened. Even if we don't think that we did anything wrong, we are to be the bigger person and still repent and ask for forgiveness. This is the proper thing to do as a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus asked for forgiveness all the time even when it was not Him that needed forgiveness. Follow after Jesus' footsteps and your life will be a little easier for you. Jesus didn't say things would be real easy for us, because it wasn't easy for Him. Jesus said, "For they persecuted Me, they will persecute you." Don't let the persecution of other people hurt you to the point that you walk away from God. Stand strong, listen, and do all things with love. Lord, we pray today that You will fill our hearts with the love that You have for us, so that we may be like you in the heart. This we pray in Jesus Christ' precious name, Amen.
