Surefootedness
The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.
~ Habakkuk 3:19
"The prophet Habakkuk had to traverse the deep places of poverty and famine, but he went downhill without slipping, for the Lord gave him standing. By and by, he was called to the high places of the hills of conflict; and he was no more afraid to go up than to go down.
The Lord not only lent him strength, He was his strength. Think of that: the Almighty God Himself becomes our strength!
Note that the Lord also gave him surefootedness. The deer leaps over rock and crag, never missing its foothold. Our Lord will give us grace to follow the most difficult paths of duty without stumbling.
One of these days we shall be called to higher places still. Up yonder we shall climb, even to the mount of God, the high places where the shining ones are gathered. With feet of faith we shall ascend the hill of the Lord!
(By: Charles H. Spurgeon ~ One Minute Devotions)
Lord, thank you for giving us the strength to go to high places that you call us to go to. Thank you for feeding us Your Manna daily so that we will not become weak and fall to temptation on our way up or down the hills. We love You, and give You all the honor and glory for the things that happen in our lives this day, we pray in Jesus Christ' precious name, Amen. Lord, we also pray for Israel, because the US Government is trying to force them to give up more of their borders to the Pakestain Government because our Government think that this will bring peace among these two nations. According to Your Word Lord, these two nations will never be at peace with each other because they are fighting over the birth right of the land. Lord we, pray and ask that You will put Your strongest Angels around Israel to protect her Lord. This we Pray and receive for her in Jesus Christ' precious name, Amen.
ReplyDeleteThis is one my favorite verses! And after reading Hinds' Feet for High Places, by Hannah Hubbard, it's even more special....I'm so thankful that The LORD is the One Who will make my feet to be like the feet of a deer, able to walk to the high places. :)
ReplyDeleteFaith's Checkbook is one of my favorite devotionals; in fact, mine's a paperback book that's fallen apart: into about 4 sections. :) I've worn it out, but it's oh-so-good!
