Faith's Checkbook (By: C.H. Spurgeon)

                                                                     Sustained by Feeding

"As the living father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me."
                                                                                            ~ John 6:57

"We live by virtue of our union with the Son of God. As God-man Mediator, the Lord Jesus lives by the self-existant Father who has sent Him; and in the same manner, we live by the Savior who has quickened us. He who is the source of our life is also the sustenance of it. On Jesus Himself we feed.
This is set forth to us in the Lord's Supper, but it is actually enjoyed by us when we meditate upon our Lord, believe in Him with appropriating faith, take Him into ourselves by love, and assimilate Him by the power of the inner life. We are entreated to eat abundantly, and it will be to our infinite profit to do so when Jesus is our meat and our drink.
Lord, thank You that what is a necessity of my new life is also its greatest delight. At this hour I feed on You." (By: Charles H. Spurgeon ~ One Minute Devotions)

  1. Please pry this prayer with me this morning. Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, our debts, and our trespasses against You and man, as we forgive those who are indebted to us, and those who have trespassed against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil; For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Honor and Glory, forever. It is in Christ Jesus Precious Name we pray and receive it. Amen!
