True Humility Rewarded
"He who humble himself will be exalted."
~ Luke 18:14
"It ought not to be difficult for us to humble ourselves - what have we to be proud of? If we are sensible and honest we shall be little in our own eyes. Our one and only appeal must be to mercy, "God be merciful to me."
Here is a cheering word from the throne. We shall be exalted by the Lord if we humble ourselves. For us the way upward is downhill. When we are stripped of self, we are clothed with humility, which is the best of wear. The Lord will exalt us in peace and happiness of mind; in knowledge of His Word and fellowship with Himself; and in the enjoyment of sure pardon and justification. The Lord puts His honor upon those who can wear them to the honor of the Giver. Both God and good men unite to honor modest worth.
Lord, sink me in self that I may rise in You." (By: Charles H. Spurgeon ~ One Minute Devotions)
Please pray this prayer with me this morning. Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us of all our sins, of our debts, and our trespasses against You and man, as we forgive those who are indebted to us, and those who have trespassed against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Honor, and the Glory, forever. It is in Christ Jesus' Precious Name, Amen!
